AccessibilityStatement
Professional Construction Consultants, Inc. (PCC) is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology, keyboard navigation, or screen magnification. This statement describes the standard we work toward, what we've done to meet it, and how to reach us if something on this site isn't working for you.
Our Commitment
We aim for this website to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), the most widely referenced accessibility standard for websites. This is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time checklist — accessibility is treated as a standing requirement for any new page or feature added to this site, not a separate pass done after the fact.
What We've Built
Specific accessibility measures already in place on this site include:
- Keyboard navigation: Every interactive element on this site — links, buttons, form fields and menus — can be operated without a mouse, with a visible focus indicator at every step.
- Skip link: A "Skip to main content" link is the first stop for keyboard and screen-reader users on every page, so they aren't forced to tab through the full header and navigation on every visit.
- Screen reader support: Pages use semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) and a logical, sequential heading structure, so screen readers can present the page's organization accurately rather than as an undifferentiated block of text.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive-element colors are checked against the WCAG contrast formulas, not just eyeballed, including the less-obvious cases like focus outlines and form-field borders on dark backgrounds.
- Accessible forms: Every form field has a properly associated label, required fields are marked in a way assistive technology can announce, and our modal dialogs trap and return keyboard focus correctly when opened and closed.
- Reduced motion: Visitors who have "reduce motion" enabled in their operating system see animations and transitions minimized or removed sitewide, rather than every page shipping its own separate opt-out.
- Meaningful alt text: Photographs and illustrations carry descriptive alt text; purely decorative graphics are marked so assistive technology skips over them instead of reading out noise.
- Progressive enhancement on forms: Our contact and case-review forms work even if JavaScript fails to load, rather than depending on it to function at all.
Known Limitations
We aren't aware of a way to build and maintain a site that is perfect on every browser, device and assistive technology combination indefinitely, and we'd rather say so plainly than imply otherwise. If you encounter a page, form or feature that doesn't work well with the technology you use, we want to know about it — see “Report an Issue” below.
Compatibility
This site is built to work with recent versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and with commonly used screen readers on both desktop and mobile. It does not require any browser plugin or extension to function.
